Lover Book Tag

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and because of that, I decided to do a romance tag…well a somewhat romance book tag. I saw that Sara posted this tag a while ago and I decided that I was going to do it for Valentine’s Day. While I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan, I thought this would still be a good one. Plus I love book tags that feature songs as prompts so let’s get into it.

Rules:

  • Link back to the creator, Sara @ The Bibliophagist!
  • Answer the questions!
  • Tag whoever you want and link back to the person who tagged you!

I Forgot That You Existed: A book from your childhood that you don’t remember anything about

19302. sx318

Honestly, I don’t even remember when I read this book. I know that when I was younger, I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking for Halloween and won an award. Other than that, I don’t remember much about this book. Perhaps it’s time for a reread lol.

Cruel Summer: The worst book you’ve read this summer

41945163. sy475

Looking back at summer 2019, the book I despised reading most was easily The Friend Zone. I know that a lot of people love this book but the last 25% really killed it for me and I couldn’t believe that this book took such a turn. I thought it was easily going to be a 4 or 5-star read but it ended up being 2 stars. Honestly, I unhauled this one as soon as I finished it.

Lover: A bookish relationship that’s perfect exactly the way it is

48359637. sy475

Xeni and Mason are easily one of my favorite bookish couples. Despite being forced together, the two had such an honest and pure relationship. There was nothing I would change about their dynamic. Even though they went through some rough patches, I think that’s why they were so perfect as they dealt with things that irl couples deal with.

The Man: A book with a badass female main character

42201395

Elisabeth was such a badass main character who dealt with so much during the course of this book. Somehow, she always picked herself back up and figured out a way to make things better. Plus she was incredibly determined and strong-willed especially when it came to the library. Honestly, I thought she was so great and I only wish that we were getting more of her story in future books.

The Archer: A book with great character development

40087230

I’m pretty sure that I used this in a Top 5 Tuesday post to talk about something similar but it’s so fitting. I think that Cameron’s character development throughout the course of If I’m Being Honest is one of the best examples. She goes through so much whether it be with her family, her relationships or herself that she’s better when the story comes to an end. While she didn’t change as much, she was a better version of herself than when the story began.

I Think He Knows: Your fictional crush

44569978. sy475

This one doesn’t need much explanation. I love Evan and I only wish that he was real so I could have a man like that.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince: A book set in high school

39991163. sy475

Technically, this book is set in a boarding school but I’m counting that as high school because they’re the same grade level. Anyways, The Vanishing Stair was easily one of my favorite YA reads of 2019 and I can’t wait to read more of it when the final book comes off hold at the library. I’ve never read a book set in high school like this so this was an easy pick.

Paper Rings: A book with a happy ending

40785611. sy475

In a lot of ways, The Princess Trap had a few happy endings. There was a happy ending for a side character, the main couple and the MC’s family. Honestly, the end of this book felt like a warm hug. I couldn’t believe how happy it made me when I finished it. ❤

Cornelia Street: A setting you’ll never forget

48748760. sy475

His Royal Highness is my first book by R.S. Grey and there is a reason why I started with it. This book is set in a Disneylandesque theme park and it was completely sold on it from that point. Everything felt like it had an extra layer of magic all over it. It was also pretty unique and I couldn’t believe that other romance authors hadn’t jumped on the chance to do something like this.

Death By A Thousand Cuts: A book that broke your heart

44643289. sy475

While this a romance book, don’t get it confused as it’s a super emotional book. It will tear your heart out and step all over it. This book broke my heart multiple times as it dealt with a lot of tough topics so gracefully. It was such a difficult read but ultimately rewarding at the same time.

London Boy: A setting that plays a big role in the story

44569992. sy475

The book I chose for this one was Damaged Goods by Talia Hibbert. In a lot of ways, I think the setting is almost as important as the romance. This book is set in a beach town in England and honestly, it was such a huge part of the story. Everything about it felt so quaint and cozy which is how I felt about this romance. Considering how much Laura loved the beach, it made complete sense as well.

Soon You’ll Get Better: A book that made you cry

40624987. sy475

I read this book towards the end of 2019 and it made me cry a handful of times. It was such a powerful yet emotional read. I won’t give anything away, but it’s a vastly underrated book. I only wish that more people were picking it up.

False God: A book with a well-written sexy scene

44323708. sy475

Jasmine and Jafar smut, that’s all I’m saying.

You Need to Calm Down: A book featuring an LGBT romance

44528370. sy475

I think this is my own LGBT romance of 2020 so far but honestly, what a way to start off the year. This book was a hate-to-love f/f romance that I couldn’t get enough of. I know that Chelsea M. Cameron has a pretty extensive backlist so I’m excited to see what else she’s written.

Afterglow: A great second chance romance

40719305. sy475

This was my favorite book in 2019. Need to say more? Lol

Me!: Your all-time favorite book

33275690

Once again, no surprise here!

It’s Nice To Have A Friend: Your favorite friends-to-lovers book

24811197

Easily one of my favorite friends-to-lovers books has to be Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren. Of all the books in the series, this one is probably my favorite. It’s a friends-to-lovers romance between a comic book artist and a comic book shop owner. They’re just so precious and adorable together plus they had such a strong friendship that there was no way they wouldn’t eventually be a couple.

Daylight: A book with a positive message

25322449

While I do think this book has its dark moments, this book does have a few positive messages about dealing with change, being passionate about a project and realizing that maybe you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. This book gets dark at times too but I think this is one that gets slept on for having some positive messages.

Holy cow! That was a long tag so kudos to you if you read the entire thing. I struggled a bit when coming up with books but I made it. Lol

As for tagging someone, I’m going to tag: Sofia, Jenna, and Meeghan. ❤
