Wizarding Wednesday #2: Favorite quotes from the first 5 books

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I’m back for my second installment of Wizarding Wednesday, a new Harry Potter meme I introduced on my blog. I was sort of hesitant to turn this into a regular Wednesday meme, but feel free to participate.

If you do, all I ask is you pingback to me. If people are interested, I’d be happy to try to come up with topics for each month. This month’s topic is a little bit different as I’ll be looking at my favorite quotes from the first 5 books. As for writing this post, I’m reading book 6 so I’m sure the final two books will get their own post.

Either way, let’s get into some of my favorite quotes from the first 5 books in the Harry Potter series.

5. “To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.”

I’ll be working my way from book 1 to book 5 so this is a quote from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Even though I’m sure everyone knows this, this was a quote from Albus Dumbledore when he was talking to Harry.

I love this quote because it’s incredibly true. Even if you lose someone, they will always be there and always love you. It’s hard to deal with life without them, but knowing you were loved by them is a wonderful feeling. It makes the loss a little easier to deal with and that’s exactly what Harry needed.

4. “When in doubt, go to the library.”

Coming up with a quote from Chambers of Secrets was tough. I looked through a few pages, but nothing stood out to me. This quote spoken by Ron about Hermione was surprisingly relatable though so I had to include it.

It’s pretty sound advice if you ask me. If you’re doubting something, go to the library and look it up or just go to the library to relax. Since we’re all book bloggers around her, I’m sure you all can agree. 🙂

3. “Don’t let the muggles get you down.”

I had trouble with Chamber of Secrets, but deciding on one for The Prisoner of Azkaban was incredibly hard. There are so many great quotes from this book and trying to pinpoint a single favorite was tough. After looking through them, I decided on “Don’t let the muggles get you down.”

This quote is spoken by Ron to Harry about the Dursleys. This quote is obviously reminiscence of “Don’t let the bastards get you down” and after reading The Handmaid’s Tale, it has a special meaning to me. The next time someone needs a pick-me-up, I’ll have to use this line.

2. “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

Goblet of Fire also has a ton of great quotes. I saw so many good ones, but I decided to go with this one. Personally, this quote is another one that a lot of people can relate to and something that many people don’t think about.

This quote was spoken by Sirus Black and honestly, what a guy. I could go on and on about Sirus, but this is one of my favorite quotes from him. I won’t give away any spoilers, but Sirus! Why?? Sirus!!!!

1. “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are”

Order of the Phoenix had a handful of good quotes and this one is perfect. It really does remind me a lot of the book and sigh, it’s another incredibly true quote. Everyone has the choice to do what’s right and wrong, but it all depends on who you are and how you decide to represent yourself.

Once again, this is a quote from Sirus Black. Have I mentioned I loved him? Because I do and I can’t believe. Well, we all know but once again, Sirus! Why? Sirus!!
