Romance Takeover Readathon Round 2 TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! It’s been a while since I’ve taken part in a readathon and I decided it’s time I change that. Personally, I have a handful of books I want to get check off TBR before 2020 ends. This year was shitty and it would be nice if I could accomplish those few goals. For me, that’s exactly what I’m using this readathon for as most of the prompts are pretty easy to adapt. 🙂

For this round, there are six hosts and the entire point of the readathon is to read romance so I’m obviously down. You can check out Jenn’s video below where she talks about the finer details. This round is taking place from November 29th until December 11th and it’s basically about reading romance/having fun. For this post, I’m going to be talking about the prompts I plan on using to help lower my TBR. 😛

Prompt 1: Read a romance that’s been on your TBR for six months or more

48747627. sy475

The first book on my TBR has to be Mangos and Mistletoe by Adriana Herrera. This is an f/f Christmas romance and I’m pretty sure it’s set during a baking reality show. It seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s one I’ve been hearing a lot about within the last year so I’m hyped for it.

Prompt 2: Read a 5-star predicted read

53491996. sy475

The book I chose for this prompt is The Gift by Rilzy Adams. I’ve given all of Rilzy Adams’ books 5-stars and this one seems like it’s a lot different. However, it seems like it’s going to be incredibly emotional yet a beautiful story. Either way, I want to get it read before the end of the year.

Prompt 3: Read a library book

40947502. sy475

The library book I decided to read is Marriage of Unconvenience by Chelsea M. Cameron. I’ve been eyeing this book at my library and it finally doesn’t have any holds on it. I know this is an f/f marriage of convenience and I’m super excited for it. It’s been a while since I read some queer romance so this was a must-add.

Prompt 4: Read a diverse book

55600142. sx318

The next book I have on my TBR for this readathon is Booked For Christmas by Lily Menon. I’m pretty sure this is her first foray into the adult romance world and this book follows a writer and her worst critic getting trapped in her cabin during a storm. It seems like it’s going to be a really fun and hopefully, sexy read. Plus it’s a relatively short one so it’ll be a quick one.

Prompt 5: Reread a favorite romance

50027029. sy475

I don’t even have to get into details with this one. This’ll be my third time reading it and I’m super excited to read it again. 🙂 🙂

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

Those are just some of the books I plan on reading for this round. I’m sure I’ll end up reading more but those are the books I have planned. I’m excited to participate in this round and I feel like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Plus I have a ton of Christmas content planned for next month so if you love Christmas, then get excited. #NovellaNovember 2020 TBR

When I was on vacation, I saw this video posted about #NovellaNovember. Since then, I’ve been curious about it and have been wanting to participate. When I’m writing this post, I’ve actually already read 2 novellas so I have a head start. However, I knew I wanted to write a full blog post about the novellas I plan on reading for each of the prompts.

Before I get into the bingo board and my picks, I wanted to shoutout both Dana and Kelly who are hosting it. I’m subscribed to Dana on YT and I plan on following both of them on Instagram after I type this up. You can find all of the info on the post I’m linking below including the bingo board.

Prompt 1: BIPOC Author

42863308. sy475

Kicking things off is the next book in the Tale of Two Cities series. This one is centered around Thanksgiving and you’ll notice I also mentioned it in my November TBR. I’m pretty sure this is Black love and I know that the author, Alexandra Warren is Black so it fits for this prompt.

Prompt 2: Group Read

51912023. sx318 sy475

For Dana’s group read pick, she went with A Match for Thanksgiving by Jackie Lau. I actually bought this book not too long ago on my Kindle since it was free. Since I’ve been in the mood for Thanksgiving romances, this is going to be perfect. Plus it’s only around 100 pages so it should be a pretty quick one.

Prompt 3: Part of an Anthology

55206842. sy475

Originally, I had another book picked out for this one but my library decided to surprise me and my hold came off this. I’m in a big holiday mood to boot so this is going to be perfect. I also know it’s focused on holidays that aren’t mainstream and honestly it sounds so good.

Prompt 4: Dana or Kelly Rec

36615627. sy475

For this one, I’m going with one of Dana’s recs and that’s My Lady’s Lover by Nicola Davidson. I’ve read Nicola Davidson before and really enjoyed her writing style so I’m excited to read this one. I’m also pretty sure this one is an f/f romance so that’ll be a nice change of pace.

Prompt 5: Holiday Romance

48732871. sy475

If you saw my November TBR, then you’ll know I put this one on there since it’s a Thanksgiving romance. Pretty self-explanatory with this one lmao.

Prompt 6: New-To-You Author

7846310. sy475

Once again, this one is another overlap from my November TBR. I’ve never heard of Mahogany SilverRain until I found this book so it’s safe to say she’s new to me. I’m curious to see if this book ends up being as wonderful as the cover.

Prompt 7: Historical Romance

33844738. sy475

Speaking of Nicola Davidson, I have the rest of the Fallen series on my Kindle and I really want to read them. These are such fun, shorty and smutty historical reads so what’s not to love? I have no idea who this book follows or if it’s still set in the same place. Either way, I’m still excited to read it.

Prompt 8: LGBTQ+ Rep

52301457. sx318 sy475

The novella I’m using for this prompt is Bear With Me by Lucy Eden. If you saw my post on Wednesday, then you’ll know my full thoughts. I’m not sure if I mentioned it in my post or not but the MC Chellie is bisexual. I can count this as one book down already. 🙂

Prompt 9: 2020 Release

55419210. sy475

For the 2020 release category, I decided to use My Husband, My Stalker by Jessa Kane. This was one of my vacation reads and I thought it was alright. The title pretty much tells you exactly what it is. It was a smutty and taboo novella which is what Jessa Kane is known for so no surprises there.

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

Anyways, those are all my Novella November picks. I absolutely love novellas so this challenge was right up my alley. This is also perfect since I’ll be watching a lot of movies this month so I’ll want to be reading shorter books. Honestly, I’m just happy to be doing a reading challenge as I’ve had a lot of fun with them in 2020. 5 books I want to read before 2020 ends

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I’ve been wanting to do this post as I’ve actually made a post for it on Notion. Also lately, I’ve been loving Notion to help me get organized with some longer blog posts. This one isn’t technically long but it’s not something I want to keep in my planner. With this, I can just move to the other tab and then go look on Goodreads for pics of the books.

Enough about Notion, these are 5 books I plan on reading before the end of 2020. I honestly feel like 2020 can’t end soon enough. However, I have to say that this is probably my best reading year ever in my life. With that being said, let’s get into the books I plan on reading before the year ends.

40076537

1. Time of Our Lives

One book I’ve been avoiding for most of 2020 is Time Of Our Lives by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka. I’ve read all of their books together so I’m not sure why I haven’t picked this one up yet. Either way, I plan on reading this before they release their next book in 2021. This one seems like it could end up being a solid read but probably not as incredible as the other ones I’ve read by then. Either way, I love this cover and I’m excited.

51901147. sy475

2. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games #0)

The next book is another one I’ve been dragging my feet on reading. I’m sure I don’t need to get into much detail about this one. It was a super hyped release in 2020 and I really need to get it done. I’m just nervous about how good it will be and if it’ll end up making Snow a likable character. I’m sure he won’t be but I’m still anxious lmao. I just need to pick it up already.

53491996. sy475

3. The Gift (Falling like a Johnson #1)

The next book I want to read before 2020 ends is The Gift by Rilzy Adams. Rilzy Adams is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors and I want to read the rest of her backlist. While most of her books are light-hearted and fun, I know this one is incredibly emotional and will likely rip my heart out. Nevertheless, I’m determined to get through it so I can read the lighter and happier books in the series.

42273779. sy475

4. Can’t Text This (Texting #3)

I feel like I’ve talked about this book in my last three posts lmao. Basically, it’s a way to hold myself accountable to finally pick it up. I’ve already talked about this book enough and I just need to read it. I won’t say anything else about it because I’m sure you all already know lmao.

52641926. sx318 sy475

5. Learn My Lesson (Wicked Villains #2)

The last book on my 2020 TBR list is Learn My Lesson by Katee Robert. I read Desperate Measures earlier this year and LOVED it. I really enjoy how Katee Robert takes our favorite Disney villains and makes them kinky. It’s such a treat that we all get to partake in but this one sounds especially spicy. It’s a romance between Meg, Hercules and Hades and honestly, I’ve been all about the poly romances this year. I can only hope there’s gonna be another round of Smutathon before the year ends 😉

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

Those are the 5 books I want to read before 2020 ends. I’m hoping I can get to all of them even though they’re almost all longer books. Either way, I’m excited to hopefully finish them all and start with a clean slate in 2021. Plus with this dumpster fire year almost behind us, who can blame me? November 2020 TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I know I said this in my last post but I’m still on vacation and I’m so excited. With that being said, I knew I wanted to post my TBR before I came back. I mean I’ll have access to my computer but I still want to take a short break from my writing. As for last month, I read a TON of books so I’m going to try to do more mood reading but I know that I want to read some Thanksgiving romances since it’s such a rarity. With that being said, let’s get into the books I have picked for November!

50689389

1. Snapped (Playbook #4)

The first book on my November TBR has to be Snapped by Alexa Martin. Everyone knows how much I love this series and it feels so bittersweet to be finishing it. This one is especially timely as it focuses on the first player to kneel during the national anthem and the employee who is supposed to “manage” him. Honestly, I love this series, Alexa Martin and her writing so I’m SO hyped to read this.

7846310. sy475

2. SAKE AND PUMPKIN PIE

This is one of the Thanksgiving romances I discovered on Kindle Unlimited. I don’t know if it’s because of the cover or the title but this book drew me in. It’s super short and it’s a Thanksgiving romance SO I’m here for it. Honestly, the next few books are going to be Thanksgiving romances because I’m just in a holiday mood right now.

42924732. sy475

3. Pumpkin and Spice (The Windy City Holiday Duet #1)

The next Thanksgiving romance I found was Pumpkin and Spice by Abby Knox. I don’t think I’ve read anything by Abby Knox before. I know this book is super short and insta-lovey but I want something quick and fun. November is probably going to be a busy month for me and I just want something that’ll make the holidays a bit more bearable.

42863308. sy475

4. A Tale of Two Cities: A Thanksgiving Novella

Last month, I read the first book in this Tale of Two Cities series and then I noticed there was a Thanksgiving one which got me hyped. Since then, I’ve been eager to read this and I’m especially excited to finally find more Thanksgiving romances. Plus it’s a Black love novella which is easily becoming one of my new favorite genres.

48732871. sy475

5. Pumpkin (Sweet Curves #2)

I read the first book in this series for Smut-A-Thon and I remembered it was actually a series featuring a Thanksgiving romance. Since then, I’ve been eager to read it. Even though this series is a little bit cheesy, it’s still fun. I honestly don’t have much to complain about with it but I do hope there’s another round of Smutathon coming soon lmao.

29568772. sy475

6. Her Naughty Holiday (Men at Work #2)

The last book on my November TBR is Her Naughty Holiday which is the second book in the Men at Work series. This one is a Thanksgiving romance that I read last year and enjoyed it. Since then, I’ve been wanting to re-read it and I’m SO happy that hoopla still has it. This is a romance with a slight age-gap and it features a virgin hero ending up with a single dad. Honestly, I remember really enjoying this and I’m excited to dive back into it.

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

Those are 6 of the books on my November TBR. I’m sure I’ll read more but I know I wanted to add some Thanksgiving romances to the list. Hopefully, I’ll find more Thanksgiving romances and can do a recs posts focused on that theme. Before you finish reading my post, please take the time to look over these attached links to help with Black Lives Matter.

Graphics-A-Thon Round 2 TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I teased this post earlier this week and it’s finally here. If you didn’t see my announcement post, I’m going to be co-hosting the Graphics-A-Thon with Ellyn and Destiny. This round, we decided to include some prompts along with a bingo board and we also have a Google Doc with recs. All of the info can be found on our Twitter.

If you need recs, you can check the Google Doc, my post, Ellyn or Destiny’s. With that being said, I don’t want to talk too much. This round starts on October 11th (12:00 AM, Your Time) and ends on October 19th (11:59 PM, Your Time.) With that being said, let’s get into my TBR picks for this round. 🙂

1. Read a graphic with BIPOC rep

42593023. sy475

For this one, I knew I wanted to feature an #ownvoices graphic novel and I found Black Mage on Hoopla. This one is about Tom, the first Black wizard admitted into a historically white wizard school. I took a look at the cover and immediately loved the art style. Either way, it looks like it’s going to be a very timely and fun read so I’m excited to dive into it.

2. Read a graphic with disability and/or mental health rep

42369064

The next graphic novel on my TBR is The Tea Dragon Festival by Katie O’Neill. I read the first book in this series earlier this year and loved it. This series is just so wholesome and it makes my heart so happy. I’ve been excited to finally continue with it and I knew that Graphics-A-Thon was the perfect way to do that. I know this series features both disability rep and mental health rep so it’s a twofer.

3. Read a graphic with queer rep

32337897. sx318

For queer rep, I had a few different options. Thankfully, it looks like my library is going to have My Brother’s Husband Volume 1 available. I’ve heard a lot of hype around this series and I’m excited to give it a try. This will also be my first try with a manga as I don’t think I’ve ever read one before. Either way, it seems like it’s going to be a fun series so I’m both excited and nervous to read this one. If it has too long of a hold, I’m going to use Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me.

4. Read a spooky graphic read

34550918

For my spooky read, I’m going with Behind You: One-Shot Horror Stories. This is another one I saw on Hoopla and knew it would be perfect for this prompt. I honestly don’t know much about this. All I’m saying is hopefully, it won’t be too scary so I can actually sleep at night after reading it. If not, then I guess I played myself lmao.

5. Read a graphic you predict will be 5 stars

52278999. sx318 sy475

I’m sure this will come as no surprise. I love romance and this is a graphic novel about being in love with your best friend. I’ve seen some of these comics online and have really enjoyed them. Snug seems like it’s going to be such a cute and lovely read so it was an easy pick for this prompt. This is another one I found on Hoopla and knew I had to add it to my TBR.

As for the bonus prompts, I have books picked out for this as well since I want to finish a book a day for this read-a-thon. I’m really crossing my fingers I can do that lmao.

6. Read a graphic that has or will have an adaptation

33906101. sx318

Ok, this one might be cheating a little bit. However, no other books on my TBR are or will be adapted. Wires and Nerves Volume 1 is part of the Lunar Chronicles series and that’s being adapted. It’s toeing the line but I’m a co-host so I say it’s fine. Lmao either way, this is a double-dip as I’m reading this for Scream-A-Thon, too. It seems like it’s going to be a fun journey back into the series Ellyn and I love so much.

7. Read a graphic with pink on the cover

35500976

I’m not sure why I chose this book to read but it seems like it’s going to be equal parts weird and fun. As far as I know, this is a romance between a girl and her bear boyfriend. It also features pink on the cover so it fit perfectly lmao. I’m just happy to find a place for it in this read-a-thon so I’m excited to read it.

8. Read a graphic that’s a genre or story you wouldn’t usually reach for

38452936. sy475

For the last prompt, I’m going with Superman Smashes The Klan. If you couldn’t tell by my TBR, I usually don’t reach for superhero comics or graphic novels. This one is going to be a huge departure from my TBR and what I usually pick up. I also think I’ve only read Wonder Woman comics as far as superheroes go. Either way, this one seems like it has potential to be a new favorite.

With all of the prompts out of the way, let’s get into my last book. I have a few options for this one so I’m going to feature them below. If you have feelings about any of them, feel free to let me know which one is the best of the bunch. 🙂

  • Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell
  • Witchlight by Jessi Zabarsky
  • Aquicorn Cove by Katie O’Neill
  • The Witches: The Graphic Novel by Pénélope Bagieu and Roald Dahl

Anyways, that’s my TBR for this round of the Graphics-A-Thon. I’m super excited to be co-hosting and even more excited start reading. If you’re participating, I’d love to know what you’re reading. I also plan on posting some updates to my Twitter and trying to get bingo on our bingo board. Before you finish reading my post, please take the time to look over these attached links to help with Black Lives Matter.

October 2020 TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I know it’s a tad bit late, but I’m finally getting my October TBR up. I actually have another TBR post coming at the end of the week for the Graphics-A-Thon so be on the lookout. However, I’m also partcipating in another read-a-thon and that’s Scream-A-Thon. This is closely related to the Pop Culture Read-A-Thon and I’m pretty sure it’s run by the same person/people.

Either way, there’s a bingo board and you all know I love a bingo board. For me, I’m going to try for one bingo but I’ll probably end up reading a few more books so maybe I’ll go for two rows. Nevertheless, let’s get into the bingo board and the books I plan on reading. 🙂

Image

Maureen Prescott: Paranormal Book

42508375. sy475

The book I chose for this one is Mirror, Mirror by Marie Harte. I think this is a book featuring a ghost and it comes to life if people have sex in front of the mirror. Either way, it sounds like it’s going to be a solid Halloween read and that’s what I’m here for lmao.

Woodsboro: Small town setting

48694922. sy475

The next book I chose is Tikka Chance on Me. I absolute love this cover and I’m pretty sure it takes place in a small town. I also think it’s an interracial romance between an Indian woman and a white guy. I’ve also heard it’s pretty steamy so I’m basically sold lmao.

Jill: World Wide Sensation/ Hyped Book

49398072

The hyped book I chose is When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole. This book has been talked about bloggers and booktubers I watch for months. Personally, I have a hold on it at the library and it’ll be coming off soon. It seems like it’s going to be another good Halloween read so I’m excited for it and to see if it lives up to the hype.

Stab-A-Thon: Reader’s Choice

45435164. sy475

For the “Reader’s Choice,” I’m going with a book I’ve had on my Kindle forever. It’s Hexes and Oh’s by Koko Brown and Taige Crenshaw. I’m pretty sure this is a romance between a witch and a guy she can’t stand. I knew as soon as I saw this prompt, I had to use this book since this seems like another solid Halloween read.

Scream: The TV Series /Read a spinoff book or series

29772863

I struggled coming up with a book for this prompt before it finally came to me as I loved the Lunar Chronicles. I still have yet to read this series though so I’m going to check it out and it pairs perfectly with Graphics-A-Thon.

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

This is a pretty short post but I don’t really have much to say about these books as I’m going into them not knowing much. Either way, I hope I can end up filling at least another row of books for Scream-A-Thon. I’d like to know if you’ve read any of these books and if so, what you thought of them.  Before you finish reading my post, please take the time to look over these attached links to help with Black Lives Matter.

August 2020 TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! If you didn’t know, August is my birthday month so I’m just focusing on books I want to read and books I think I’m going to love. There are a lot of indie books coming out I want to read and some others I’m excited for. I’m also going to be participating in the Blackloveathon this month so I’ll have a separate post for that. (Update: Mina said she’s postponing this round until February but still look out for some reviews of Black romance I want to read this month.)

With that being said, let’s get into the six books I have on my TBR. I have more but I’m going to feature them in a post of their own. Either way, let’s get into the books I know I want to read in August. 🙂

52316904. sy475

1. Trouble & Strife (Chances Limited #2)

The first book on my TBR for August is Trouble & Strife by Lara Kinsey. I read the first book in this series last month and enjoyed it. Since then, I’ve been anxious to read Sidney’s story. I follow Lara Kinsey on Twitter and she’s been getting me really hyped to read this. It’s also novella length so it’s going to be a perfect short summer read for me.

53820256. sy475

2. Nordic Daddy (Business Trip Boyfriends #1)

The second book I want to read is another Lara Kinsey book. This one is the first in her Business Trip Boyfriends series. I don’t really know anything about this series except that it follows a single dad. I trust Lara Kinsey though so I’m excited to pick this one up. It’s also another super short read so it’ll be another quick one. I might even marathon these two as they can probably be read in a sitting each.

54331108. sy475

3. Jasmin’s Billionaire

The third book on my TBR is Jasmin’s Billionaire by Sookh Kaur. I read the short story that comes before this book and really enjoyed it. I’m curious to see if this book ends up being as delightful as the short story that came before it. The cover is super cute and I’m excited to see Jasmin’s story. I’m all about the cure romance vibes during my birthday month so I’m just ready.

53287484

4. Midnight Sun (Twilight #5)

The next book on my TBR is Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. I’m sure this will come as no surprise as this book is going to be read by a lot of us. I know that Twilight isn’t nearly as beloved as it was back in the day. However, I’m super excited to read it and see things from Edward’s perspective. I’m also curious if we’ll end up getting another book after this one. Either way, it’s high up on my TBR.

27405489

5. Wonder Woman ’77 Volume 1

The next book I have on my TBR is a Wonder Woman comic. I was originally super excited to go see Wonder Woman 1984 but they pushed it back again. To make up for that, I knew I wanted to read something Wonder Woman related this month. I decided on Wonder Woman ’77 Volume 1. This series sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun and hopefully, super campy. Even though I’m not getting the movie, I’ll see have something WW to look forward to.

42505366
41837243. sy475

6. You pick: Lock Every Door or Wilder Girls?

The last book on my TBR is one I want you to pick for me. I read Riley Sager last month and want to read more of his backlist. However, I also want to read Rory Power’s books so you see where my problem is. If you’re reading my post and feel strongly about either of these books, make sure to vote for them down below. Whichever one gets more votes, that’s the one I’ll be reading. 🙂

Credit to Pure Imagination Blog

Anyways, those are all the books I plan on reading not including the Blackloveathon. I’m super excited to get to these books. I can only hope that August is going to be another huge reading month for me.

July 2020 TBR (Pop Culture Readathon)

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Originally, I was stumped on what to read this month and then the Pop Culture Readathon showed up on my Twitter feed. If you didn’t know, it’s a month-long readathon with different sections featuring book prompts for classic 90’s movies. The graphics are amazing and they immediately made me want to join. Thankfully, I have a lot of books on my Kindle to read and some library reads I still want to get to.

This readathon is being hosted by Whitney and Lorryn. They have more info on the official Twitter if you’re looking for particular rules. Basically, you pick which team you want to be on and try to fill in the bingo board. I don’t normally do a full blackout with bingo so I’m going to try to get two bingo with my reads. 🙂

The board I chose to go with is “The Adult Table” which features adult 90’s movies. I’ve watched most of them so this was perfect for me. I also might try to get a bingo on the “Teen Dream” one but I’m not sure yet so here’s the bingo board and the books I plan on reading for it.

Poetic Justice: Read a book written in verse

35398627. sy475

The book I chose for this prompt is Other Words For Home by Jasmine Warga. I’ve read one of Jasmine Warga’s other books and didn’t really enjoy it. However, I want to give her work another try. This fits perfectly with the prompt and is a relatively short audiobook to boot. Hopefully, it ends up being the book to make me a Warga fan.

The First Wives Club: Read a book from your fave genre

49976087

I feel as though I’ve been waiting my entire life for this book. I preordered it from Barnes & Noble and have yet to receive yet. It’s basically been in the mail for over a week and still has yet to get to my door. There is no way I couldn’t include it on this TBR and tbh I’m just ready to read it. I have a HUGE post coming out this month focused on this book and it’s just annoying that I don’t have it yet. Either way, this was the first book that came to mind when seeing this prompt.

Pretty Woman: Read a book with a gorgeous cover

52701779. sy475

This originally wasn’t the book I chose but I read my pick at the end of June. Either way, I decided to use Professional Pleasure by Tia Love. I’ve never read anything by Tia Love before and I absolutely adore this cover. This sounds like it’s going to be fun and smutty with a gorgeous love interest as pictured on the cover lmao.

Black American Princess: Read a book with royalty

32871331. sy475

I’m not sure if this book actually counts, but it follows a lord and a lady so I’m pretty sure that means royalty or close to it. Either way, I bought this book for 99 cents on Kindle and I’ve been eager to pick it up. It’s a historical romance and I’m pretty sure it’s set in a sex club. Nevertheless, I’m excited to finally pick it up and see if it’s a series I’d like to give a chance.

As for my next bingo, I’m just going to try for the line right under my first bingo as I really enjoy those prompts so let’s get into the other 4 books I plan on reading. 🙂

It’s Friday, Craig: Read a book with 150 pages or less

33140405. sy475

Next up is another freebie from Kindle. I’m pretty sure this book is told through emails between an employee and her boss. It’s another short novella length read but I want to try to get most of the books on there read. I’ve never read anything from Whitney G before but I know she’s a Black author. Not sure about the race of any of the characters, though. Either way, it should be a quick and fun read.

Death Becomes Her: Read a backlist book

21964811

I’m pretty sure I read the first book in this series either last month or the month before but I knew I wanted to continue it. This book was published in 2014 so it’s definitely a backlist title. This book follows the same characters from the first book but I think it’s a time jump and we see their relationship now versus then. Either way, I’m excited to see what happens with these two.

Titanic: Read a historical fiction novel

53405694. sy475

Ever since I read Lara Kinsey’s other books last month, I’ve been itching to pick up more and this book seems perfect. I’m pretty sure it’s a historical romance set in the 1920’s and it features bisexual characters. Honestly, I’ve liked everything I’ve read from Lara Kinsey so I’m excited to pick this up. I only hope that she decides to publish more in the future.

Sister Act: Read the first book in a series

44568731. sy475

The next book is one I bought on Kindle and haven’t read yet. I’m pretty sure this book follows two people who meet when they’re seatmates on an airplane and they have a romance. All I know is that it was free and I absolutely loved the cover. This was an easy pick for this one and hopefully, I’ll want to continue the series after I read this.

Alright, those are my picks for the Pop Culture Readathon. I might try to squeeze in some other books and try to get bingo on other boards. For now though, I want to try to clear out my Kindle and read some library books. My Kindle is seriously getting full and I have to stop lmao. Hopefully I have another solid reading month and considering I’m excited for all these books, I should 😛

Before I wrap things up, I’m also planning to do the “PSU” readalong which is hosted by Jess, Mina and Melissa. I’ve never read the Palm South University series by Kandi Steiner but it sounds like it’s going to be the perfect summer binge read. If you want to know more, be sure to check out Jess’ Instagram post about it.

June 2020 TBR (The Olympic Games Readathon)

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this month, I was originally going to do a Pride read-a-thon but I also wanted to do the Olympic Games Readathon, too. With that being said, I’m going to be reading only books either by authors who are LGBTIA or with characters who are on the LGBTIA spectrum for this readathon. There might be some library holds that come off but these are my only reading plans. Lol

Before getting started, you can watch Ishi’s video where she goes over everything. You can also find the readathon on Twitter, too. The video is very detailed so if you’re looking for answers to any questions, I’d check there first. With all that being said, I’m going to be on Team Apollo so let’s get into the challenges and the books I plan on reading for them. 🙂

Team Apollo Challenges

  • Music To My Ears: Listen to an audiobook
  • Healing: Read a book you know will make you happy
  • As the god of prophecy, Apollo can often predict the future. Read a book you predict will be a five-star read.
  • Read a book that starts with the letter “A.”
  • The Twin Archers: Apollo and Artemis look out for each other. Complete a prompt that honors Artemis.

Music To My Ears: Listen to an audiobook

For my audiobook pick, I’m going with I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver and I’m super hyped to finally get to this. I remember this book getting a lot of hype last year but didn’t pick it up. Even though I’ve read books by non-binary authors before (as far as I know), I know that Mason Deaver is an author a lot of people like. Plus Mason has gotten a ton of hype on Twitter so I’ve been hearing about them forever so I’m excited to see what this book is like.

Healing: Read a book you know will make you happy

In April, I read the first book in this series and I’m super excited to read this one. This series deserves so much hype and no one’s talking about it. It’s about a group of women in a band and I’m pretty sure they’re all queer. The first book was a relationship between Vero and Billie while this one focuses on Domino and her romance. From reading the synopsis, I know it’s an f/f romance and I liked the previous book so I’m sure it’ll make me happy.

As the god of prophecy, Apollo can often predict the future. Read a book you predict will be a five-star read.

The next book I want to read is one a lot of people have been hyping up. I’ve never read anything by Jack Harbon but this book sounds delightful. I’m pretty sure it’s an m/m romance between two people in a book club. Those are all of my buzz words so I’m already on board. Either way, I’ve been holding onto this one and I CANNOT wait to finally pick it up.

Read a book that starts with the letter “A”

The next book is one I stumbled upon while looking at my Kindle. I’m pretty sure this book is about a girl who poses as her gay friend’s girlfriend but ends up having feelings for his sister. I read a similar trope in a different book and enjoyed it. I think it’s just enough taboo without going overboard (not that I don’t enjoy that lmao) but this sounds really good. Obviously, it’s an f/f romance but I’m curious to see what role the brother plays in the story.

The Twin Archers: Apollo and Artemis look out for each other. Complete a prompt that honors Artemis.

The prompt I’m doing is “Read a book while the moon is up” or read a book at night

37534577

When I decided on the last prompt, I knew I wanted to read a graphic novel. The graphic novel I chose was Check, Please! Book 1: #Hockey which I’ve heard a lot about. I know it features a hockey player who has a baking Youtube channel and I’m pretty sure the main character is gay. I might be wrong, but from looking on Goodreads, that’s what I’m gathering. Either way, this book looks really cute and I’m excited to read it.

Aside from these books, there are a few I plan on reading. Most of them are queer but let’s get into it.

  • The Babysitter by Jack Harbon
  • In Bloom by Allie Keane
  • Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert (if my preorder comes in on time!)

No doubt I’m going to read more but I wanted to talk about my Olympic Games TBR along with the other queer books I plan on reading. Hopefully, I can finish all of these before the month ends as long as I don’t have a ton of books come off hold like I did in May. Lol

Mini Contemporary-A-Thon TBR

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I know what you’re thinking and it’s that I have a post going on Thursday?? Honestly, I’ve been liking adding an extra post on during the week but that’s not what we’re here to talk about. Chelsea from ChelseaDollingReads posted a video in which she discussed having a mini Contemporary-A-Thon this upcoming weekend. Basically, I knew I had to write up a TBR post for it so here we are.

Also, this post is so chaotic lmao but anyways. The dates for the mini CAT are May 22th through May 25th and it includes 3 prompts. However, you don’t have to do the prompts as long as you’re just reading contemporary books. Either way, let’s get into the prompts and the books I plan on reading for them.

Prompts

  • Read a book with peach/orange/pink on the cover
  • Read a book under 250 pages
  • Read a book you think will be fun

Read a book with peach/orange/pink on the cover

If you’ve been following me since the beginning of Contemporary-A-Thon, I almost always read a volume of Giant Days. This time, I’m on volume 5 and I’m excited to see what the girls are up to. I think this series is so much fun and it’ll be the perfect thing to write during a mini version of the regular CAT.

Read a book under 250 pages

The book I chose for this prompt is Strictly Professional by Christina C. Jones. Spoiler alert for my wrap-up but I’ve been reading a lot of CCJ this month. As soon as I saw this prompt, I knew I had to include one of her books. She does such a great job of developing characters and their relationships in such a short time. Plus I’ve been wanting to read more via Kindle Unlimited since I’m paying for it and all. Lol

Read a book you think will be fun

39247954. sy475

The book I’m going with for this prompt is Grumpy Fake Boyfriend by Jackie Lau. There is just something about the title that makes this sound fun. I’ve never read anything by Jackie Lau either so we’ll see if I end up enjoying it. My library has been buying her books a lot recently and I’ve been wanting to check them out. If anything, this round came at the perfect time. 🙂

Anyways, those are the 3 books I plan on reading for the mini Contemporary-A-Thon. I have off work on Saturday and Sunday so I should have time to read them all. Then again, I might even have time to read a little more. Either way,  I’m hoping I get to all three of these books and end up loving them. 🙂
