My Favorite…F/F Pairing

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Welcome to another “My Favorite” post and since last week, we did an m/m pairing. I knew I wanted to include an f/f pairing as that’s mostly what I read. If you couldn’t tell from last week, I had a bit of rough time coming with an m/m pairing. However, I knew that for this week, I had a lot of different options so let’s get into them. 🙂

BookishlyRebecca is now the host of the “My Favorite” meme, a weekly meme posted on Wednesday. Originally started by Maureen’s Books, she agreed to let me take over.

As Maureen described it, “In this meme, we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it. The world can be a dark place and it’s to share something positive. Each week I will post a new My Favorite.. post about one subject and I’ll tell you all about it. And the best part? Everyone is welcome to join. The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post, and visit others.”

Last week, I talked about She-Ra so I decided to talk about an f/f pairing from a book and I feel like this one is obvious. I’ve been hyping up this book since I read it and I want more people to read it. The book I’m talking about is of course, Undone by Bryce Oakley which is a romance between a pop-star and her songwriter who is part of an alternative band.

52935617. sx318 sy475

Honestly, this book is super short but features a lot of good development for the characters, their relationship and even, some sexy scenes. I loved Billie and Vero as characters individually but I loved seeing how they interacted together. They had such misconceptions about each other but quickly learned the other people wasn’t who they thought they were. The only complaint I have is that this book is just entirely too short and I wish it would have been longer.

Other than that, if you’re looking for a good f/f romance, you need to make sure you read Undone this month. If you have Kindle Unlimited, it’s free on there. Even if you don’t know, you can find it on Amazon for 99 cents. It’s also available on Hoopla as an audiobook. Honestly if you can, please read this book because I’ll scream about it forever.

My Favorite…M/M Pairing

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For these next two weeks, I wanted to focus on couples for Pride month. This one is focusing on m/m romances and it’s one I know a lot of people will enjoy. As far as the pairings go, I didn’t just feature books as there are a lot of different m/m relationships in the media. Either way, let’s get into my pick 🙂

For me, this one was tough. When looking back at my Goodreads shelf and the shows/movies I’ve read, there was way more f/f. Either way, I knew as soon as I started looking who I was going to pick. My favorite m/m pairing is easily Bow’s dads from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. While they don’t appear as much as the other characters, they’re such a delight when they do show up.

However, I do plan on reading some more m/m romances during this month. Hopefully by the next time I do this, I’ll have more books to choose from. Either way, I’m excited to see what others pick if they decide to do this prompt. 🙂

My Favorite…Bookish Friendship & June Prompts

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Welcome to the last May “My Favorite” post and what a month it’s been. I’ve had a lot of fun with these prompts and moving ahead to June, I have some fun ones. I don’t want to talk too much so let’s get into what “My Favorite” is and the prompts for June.

June Prompts

  • June 3rd: My Favorite…LGBTIA+ Author
  • June 10th: My Favorite…M/M Pairing
  • June 17th: My Favorite…F/F Pairing
  • June 24th: My Favorite…LGBTIA Book On my TBR

While I’m going to be talking about a fictional friendship, I did want to give a shout-out to two of my favorite people I’ve met via blogging. First is Ally who is one of the strongest people I know along with being super smart and just a positive ray of sunshine. I always look forward to her posts and seeing on my Twitter/Wordpress.

Second is Ellyn who is my favorite person to buddy-read with, who has such unique content and is just all-around a great person. If you’re not following either of these ladies, you need to be. They’re just wonderful. ❤

As for my favorite bookish friendship, I have to go with the girls from Rebekah Weatherspoon’s books. All of her books are connected so almost all of the heroines are friends. I think it’s such a fun way to connect her books and it’s nice seeing them pop up in other series. I especially liked seeing it in the Fit trilogy which connects a lot of the characters together. Overall, I just think she does a great job of connecting the threads and showing how far friendship can go.

My Favorite…Thing about Spring

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Welcome to another “My Favorite” but this time, we’re moving away from the quarantine topics. As much as I enjoy them, I think they’re a little bit too fresh for most of us. Instead, I wanted to focus on the season we’re currently in and when I’m typing this, there have been a few nice days so I have a few ideas.

The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post and visit others.”

When thinking of this prompt, two things immediately pop into mind. For me, my favorite thing about spring is the season as it’s my favorite season. It’s not blazing hot but it’s not freezing cold either. It’s perfectly mild weather so you can still be outside without having to be bundled up or sweating like crazy.

As for my other favorite thing about spring, I have to say that I love just being able to sit outside. Of course, I usually have a book or my Kindle in my hands. Sometimes, I like to bring out my laptop and write some blog posts. Spring’s all about things starting anew and being able to do that feels like an awakening for my writing/reading life. I also enjoy going for walks, too. Overall, I just really like spring and hopefully, this prompt helps others enjoy it as well.

My Favorite…Quarantine Read

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this week’s prompt, I wanted to do something else related to quarantine. After this though, I wanted to take a little break since I know it can be draining to think about. However, I figured I’d try to do something a little bit different and talk about our favorite quarantine reads. Personally, I’ve been using this quarantine to my full advantage to read as much as possible.

The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post and visit others.”

As I said above, I’ve been doing a lot of reading during the quarantine. With that being said, I’m going to try to narrow it down to only one book..well actually two. For a book that’s new-to-me, my favorite quarantine book is Open Book by Jessica Simpson which was so delightful. Even if you’re not a fan of Jessica Simpson, I really think you should give this one a try. It’s such an insightful and in-depth look into her life.

As for my quarantine re-read, it has to be Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Ellyn and I are still buddy-reading this series together and what a delight it’s been. If you’re thinking about re-reading this series, please do. It’s holding up so well and I’m excited to finally dive into the next book. 🙂

My Favorite…Quarantine Snack

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I knew that I had to do a few quarantine-related prompts for “My Favorite” this month. When I’m typing up my post, it’s not even the end of April but there isn’t an end in sight. However, I’m feeling hopeful and trying to be calm about everything. Anyways, let’s get into my answer for this week’s prompt!

The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post and visit others.”

For me, it has to be a tie for my two favorite quarantine snacks. These aren’t really snacks but rather meals for me. Maybe that says something about me but oh well. The first easily has to be Ramen. As someone who works at a grocery store, I’ve watched almost the entire ramen shelf be completely cleared out. Considering it’s such an easy and cheap, I can understand why. Plus Ramen keeps for a long time so I don’t really blame people.

Usually, I don’t doctor my Ramen up. I just cook it as described on the package and eat it with the seasoning package. Either way, it’s still good. I might eventually doctor it up if it starts getting too bland. For now, though, Ramen has been one of my favorite quarantine snacks.

Another quarantine snack I’ve been loving is pizza rolls. This is a more recent one as it’s been years since I’ve had them. Since seeing them at work though, I’ve had a craving and since then, I’ve eaten them like three times. Honestly, I have so much “snacky” stuff in my house that these two things are just a drop in the bucket. Considering I’m usually there on truck nights too, I know what we’re getting at work.

I figured this would be a fun prompt as it’s still talking about quarantine but on a lighter note. I know that a lot of guys are taking quarantine seriously so this is a nice way for all of us to connect. Hopefully, if others decide to participate, they have better snacks or even share recipes lmao.

My Favorite…Upcoming Author & May Prompts

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I had a pretty unique idea with this week’s prompt and I’m not even sure of my answer yet. Regardless, I’m excited to talk about the prompt and get into my prompts for May. Either way, let’s get into next month’s prompts and my favorite upcoming author for 2020.

May Prompts

  • May 6th: My Favorite…Quarantine Snack
  • May 13th: My Favorite…Quarantine Read
  • May 20th: My Favorite…Thing about Spring
  • May 27th: My Favorite…Bookish Friendship (Fictional, A Blogging friend or Book Twitter Friend, have fun with it!)

For me, this is tough because I don’t really look much into debut authors. I usually hear about books via Booktube or my fellow bloggers. That’s why for this week, I had to go onto Goodreads and look for myself. With that being said, I found a handful of books to talk about but decided to settle on two as they look promising.

45892636. sy475

The first is one I’m sure everyone’s heard about and that’s Meryl Wilsner. She is the author of Berkley’s first f/f romance. It’s super exciting and I’m glad Berkley is taking the step. This book follows an actress and her publicist who eventually fall in love, I’m pretty sure. Either way, this one is a high priority and one I know a lot of people will be reading when it comes out in May.

48612006

The second one I’m going with is Sarah Morgenthaler. Once again, she’s another debut author and what a way to start off her writing resume. The book she’s releasing is called the Tourist Attraction and it’s set in Alaska. Basically, that’s all I need to know and I’m hooked. I know this is a romance between a tourist and a guy who lives in Alaska, I think? If not, it sounds like it’s going to be good and is another a lot of people on my Goodreads are excited for. Lol

My Favorite…Book Series to Finish This Year

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this week’s “My Favorite,” we’re talking about book series and what a timely topic. With all the extra time we have, it’s time to catch up on those book series. For me, I’m not a big series reader but I do have a few I’d like to read before 2020 ends. Hopefully, I can narrow it down to only one, though 😉

At the end of each month, I’ll post the prompts for the following month so be sure to check back then!

For me, this one was tough but I eventually found a series I wanted to finish. I’ve been procrastinating on reading this for years. When the first 3 books were announced, I was so hyped but still haven’t read the fourth one. With that being said, my favorite book series to finish this year is easily the DC Icons series. As I mentioned, I read the first three but have yet to pick up Superman: Dawnbreaker. Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge Superman fan but this one hasn’t been a high priority.

Either way, I do plan on picking it up before the year ends. Hopefully, it ends up being the perfect end to a series I love. If not, then I guess it’s my luck lmao. Thankfully I know my library has the audiobook available so I can go that route instead of buying it.

My Favorite…TV Show Currently Airing

Hello friends and fellow TV lovers! This week, I decided to go with a prompt, focusing on TV shows rather than movies. Personally, I don’t watch many TV shows but I figured I’d talk about some of my faves. I know this is a pretty short intro but I really want to talk about these shows so let’s get into it!

At the end of each month, I’ll post the prompts for the following month so be sure to check back then!

While this shouldn’t surprise anyone, my favorite TV show currently airing is Bob’s Burgers. I not only watch it but also write about it, talk about it on here and generally, talk about it a lot. I know animated shows aren’t for everyone but if you haven’t checked it out, you should with all this time off. Lmao, either way, I really love Bob’s Burgers.

While Bob’s Burgers is my pick, I have a lot of other shows I watch and enjoy so let’s get into my three honorable mentions. For me, it has to be Schitt’s CreekBless The Harts and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I plan on writing a non-bookish faves post later this month so be on the lookout to find out what other shows/movies I watched during the last three months.

My Favorite…Audiobook of 2020 Thus Far

Hello friend and fellow book lovers! Once again, I’m going with another bookish prompt for “My Favorite” this week. Amidst everything going on, I’ve been shifted my focus from reading on my kindle to reading with my headphones in. I think it’s really nice to hear a story read to you sometimes and with me only going outside to work, it makes me feel a little better.

At the end of each month, I’ll post the prompts for the following month so be sure to check back then!

I narrowed this down to two books so I’m going to include them both because oh well. Who cares? Lol

9145079. sy475

When looking through my Goodreads shelf, I saw both of Betty White’s books on there, both of which I listened to on audio. White narrates them herself and honestly, it’s just glorious. This one basically spans most of her career from starting off as a young actress to becoming a seasoned professional. It truly was a deep-dive into both her career and life so if you’re a fan of Betty White, I’d highly recommend it. Plus you get to hear her talk about Golden Girls which for me was incredible.

44600621

The other book is one I read last month and that’s Dear Girls by Ali Wong which she narrates herself. This book is basically Ali writing letters to her daughters and giving them advice. Unlike Betty’s, this one focuses more on her life rather than her career but it’s just so wonderful. I don’t know if it’s because of Wong’s narration but I LOVED this book a lot. Despite everything going on in the world, this book made me feel hopeful and excited 🙂
