Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this month’s “5+5” post, I wanted to feature some long romance books. Personally, I don’t always love reading long romance books but sometimes, they really do hit the spot. While I do love short books, it’s nice to read some longer books and get a bit more development than I’m used to.
Before I get started, I consider basically any romance book over 350 pages as a “long” romance book but that’s just me. You might have a different opinion, but I wanted to give that small disclaimer so let’s get into the recs!
1. Tweet Cute: 368 pages
The first book is the only non-adult romance on my list, but I read it last year and loved it. This is a rival-to-lovers story about two teenagers who run their family’s restruant Twitter accounts and it’s their feuds along with them communicating on an app from their school without realizing who they’re talking to. It sounds a bit confusing, but this book was just excellent.
For being a YA, it didn’t feel like it was dumbed down and it just felt really modern. I especially love how much food was mentioned in this book. Plus the romance was just so dang cute.
2. Neon Gods: 380 pages
The next book is the complete opposite of the first. It’s a Hades and Persephone retelling and it’s just delightful. I especially loved the deal that Persephone and Hades came up with. Plus it’s Katee Robert so it’s incredibly smutty and just excellent overall. This is one that I’d recommend both physically and on audio because I split my time listening and reading with my eyes but it just blew me away.
3. From Lukov With Love: 540 pages
Of course, I’d have to include a Mariana Zapata on this list. She’s the queen of long and slow-burn romances. This one is between Lukov who is Jasmine’s best friend’s brother and it’s them deciding to become figure-skating partners together. They don’t really get a lot either so it’s more of a dislike-to-love, too. These two were straight assholes to each other, but I adored it. While it did feel a bit long at times, this book was another incredible one by Mariana Zapata.
4. Beautiful Player: 402 pages
The next book I have to rec is Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren. This is Book 3 in their Beautiful series and it’s definitely a new fave of theirs. This is a brother’s best friend romance between Will and Hanna. It also features sex lessons, lots of sexual exploration by the couple and of course, lack of conversations. Either way, I felt like this was such a solid addition to the series and it just made me so happy.
5. Written In the Stars: 384 pages
The final long romance book I have to rec is Written In The Stars which is an f/f fake-dating story. Darcy and Elle have a disastrous first date but decide to fake date to appease Darcy’s brother. The story goes from there, but it just made me so happy. This book also talks a lot about astrology which I thought was awesome. Plus with the holidays coming up, it’s an easy one to add to your TBR.
1. Her Soul To Take: 458 pages
With Halloween coming up, this one is high on my TBR. If I’m remembering correctly, this is a demon romance and it’s also pretty dark. I’ve read The Dare by Harley LaRoux and loved it so I’m excited to read one of her longer stories. Plus that cover just looks so cool.
2. Reel: 432 pages
No surprise I decided to feature a Kennedy Ryan book on here. Her books are always long and usually emotional. This year, she decided to release Reel which is a Hollywood love story and it sounds so amazing. I have a few of her backlist books to get caught up on but this one is definitely a high priority.
3. The Bad In Each Other: 442 pages
The next long romance book I have on my TBR is The Bad In Each Other by Tasha L. Harrison. This is Birdie’s book and I’m so excited to finally get to it. I know that Birdie’s a chef so no doubt this is going to focus heavily on food. I recently read book 1 and loved it so I’m excited to see what Tasha L. Harrison does in book 2.
4. The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows: 398 pages
The next book is another sequel to a book I’ve read recently. This one follows Agatha who is a side character in book 1 and it’s her romance with a bee-keeper, I think? Of all the books in the series, this one seems like the least exciting. Either way, I’m going to read it since I feel like Olivia Waite writes incredible f/f romances.
5. Kulti: 570 pages
The final long romance book I have on my TBR is Kulti by Mariana Zapata. I’ve already talked about her before and this one is a soccer romance between a girl and her coach that she used to admire. Honestly, I’m just excited to read more of her backlist so this one is probably not happening until 2022. Her books are something I have to prepare myself for lmao.
