Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I knew I wanted to write up another five-star predictions for the second half of 2021. As per my previous round, I decided to feature books that are being published in 2021 and some backlist titles as well. There are just SO many books I have on my TBR so this is another way to hold myself accountable and get these books read. 🙂
5-Star Predictions for July-December 2021
1. The Heart Principle
The first 5-star prediction I have for the second half of the year is The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang. This book has been pushed back a few times and it’s finally coming out in August 2021 which I’m excited for. Plus this is Quan’s book and I’ve been waiting forever for it. I just hope it’s as amazing as the previous installments in the series.
2. From Lukov With Love
The next five-star prediction I have is a backlist book and it’s From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata. I personally can only handle on Mariana Zapata book a year and for 2021, I’m going with From Lukov With Love. I know this is obviously a slow-burn romance featuring figure skaters as the protagonists and it just sounds like it’s going to be an incredible read.
3. Equivalent Exchange (Night Shift)
Once again, this is probably not a surprise at all for those who have been following me on Goodreads. I’ve been loving Christina C Jones’ books and have been marathoning them like crazy. This is one of the few I haven’t read yet but feel like I’m going to really love it. I really want to get caught up on her backlist so this is an obvious one.
4. Today Tonight Tomorrow
Of course, I had to pick a Rachel Lynn Solomon book and put it on here as the two books I’ve read from her have been 5 stars. While I know her earlier releases focus on tougher topics, I’m pretty sure this one is more of a YA rom-com. I could be wrong, but I’m super excited to read it and see if it cements her as one of my new favorite authors.
5. Make It Sweet
The final five-star prediction I have is Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan. This is a book I saw hyped up on Twitter and ever since then, I’ve been eager to read it. I think it’s a romance between an actress and a hockey player who bakes??? Either way, it sounds like it’s going to be delightful and the perfect book to read during this summer/fall season.
Recapping my first set of 2021 Five-Star Predictions
1. Act Your Age, Eve Brown ✅
My first five-star prediction was Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert. This one was of course, five stars and could be my favorite Brown Sisters novel. Either way, I absolutely adored this one and I’m glad I put it on my five-star predictions list.
2. Office Hours ❎
The second book I predicted would be five stars was Office Hours by Katrina Jackson. This one sadly wasn’t five stars. If anything, I felt like it dragged on for most of it and as much as I loved the romance, I feel like it got bogged down by the stress our MC was under.
3. The Lady’s Champion ❎
This one, I was pretty hesitant to put on my five-star predictions as it’s a historical romance and I don’t normally love those. The Lady’s Champion was not a bad book but it felt a little too under-developed in places. I did enjoy the romance, but it just lacked a certain spark. I do plan on reading more from this author though as I gave it 4 stars.
4. Take It ❎
The next book I predicted would be 5 stars was Take It by Shae Sanders and ugh, I can’t believe I thought this would be five stars. This is a Black love office romance and it just didn’t work for me. I felt like some of the comments in it could have easily been edited out or just felt a bit too ~edgy~ to be in the book. Plus I didn’t really buy the romance as it was such a short read. I ended up giving this one 3 stars unfortunately.
5. Truth or Dare ✅
The final book I predicted would be five stars is Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen. This book follows a group of friends who meet up for a wedding and it’s about two of them hooking up. I read this during Valentine’s Day weekend and I couldn’t get enough of it. It was super steamy, featured an incredible friends-to-lovers romance and made me SO happy. I can’t wait to dive more into Danielle Allen’s backlist.
That’s a look at some of my upcoming five-star predictions along with my previous set. I will say that I’m not too bad about myself for the first round. At least, I got 2 out of the 5 correct but I’m hoping I can do better in the latter half of 2021.
