Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this week’s Friday post, I decided to do something a little different and hopefully, try to wrap up my 2021 upcoming posts. For this one, I wanted to talk about some of the series I plan on finishing this year. Me personally, I’m not a huge series reader and I will procrastinate forever before I finally finish a series. However, I do have a few that I want to get wrapped up before the year ends.
5. The Baldwin Village series
This first series is a little bit of a cheat because I only read the novella that’s a prequel to this series in December 2020. However, I do plan on continuing with the rest of it. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I’m a tad bit obsessed with Jackie Lau’s books. There’s just something so comforting about her stories and I honestly can’t get enough of them. In particular, these books all follow different businesses on Baldwin Street and the women who become friends that run said businesses including their romance relationships.
The first book is The Ultimate Pi Day Party which features a romance between a tech company CEO and the girl who owns the pie restaurant which is just delightful. Her books are always relatively low-angst and usually make you feel super hungry (at least I do when I’m reading lmao) so I do plan on finishing this one since my library has all of the books.
4. The Texting series
The next series I want to finally finish is the Texting series by Teagan Hunter. This series is 4 books long and it features relationships that start with texting. Even if they don’t start with texting, they’re all modern new-adult romances featuring characters that do end up texting each other a lot. I read the first three books in 2020 but didn’t end up picking up the last one before the year ended.
While I’m not overly excited about the pairing in this book, I do think it’ll be a good time. Even if these books don’t always hit the mark for me, they do end up making me laugh and smile while I’m reading. I also plan on reading more of Teagan Hunter’s backlist so I want to finish this series before I move on to her other series.
3. Wicked Villains series
The next series I want to finish in 2021 is the Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert. I’m pretty sure I read book 1 in January 2020 and read book 2 later in the year. I finally picked up book 3 in January 2021 and it’s been my favorite one in the series. Personally, I feel like this is such a good series idea and Katee Robert just knocks it out of the park with these books. I am nervous to see how the series wraps up and to see if her other series live up to the hype for me. Either way, these books are fun and sexy time which is really all I can ask for.
2. Crazy, Sexy, Ghoulish Series
The next series is one I started in 2020 and can’t wait to finish in the next year. These ones are kind of hard to caterogize because these are new adult romances but with a spooky twist. The first book is set at a haunted house and features a reformed mean girl falling for a guy she used to bully while the second book is them facing off against each other. As for the next two books in the series, I’m not really sure what tropes they have or who they follow.
However, I feel like this series can appeal to a wide variety of readers. You don’t just have to read romance or just read horror to enjoy these. They have a little something for everyone plus they’re available to read on KU. Such fun, short and spooky reads that are perfect if you’re looking for some good Halloween romances.
1. Welcome to Sea Port series
The final series I want to finish in 2021 is the Welcome to Sea Port series by Katrina Jackson which is a series of small-town romances. Each book focuses on a different couple and honestly, each one gets better than the last. While the first three books are part of the series, the last one is a Christmas novella featuring the couple from book 1. Either way, these books are super short but feature lots of good character development, incredible relationships and lots of sexy times. Plus Katrina Jackson is an author whose backlist I plan on making a dent in during this year so this is a win-win for me.
Anyways, those are five series I want to get finished in 2021. Honestly, I feel like there are tons of other ones I could have talked about but I didn’t want to go down too much of a rabbit hole. Either way, I do think I can get all of these series done before the year ends.
