Spotify Book Tag

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For my Wednesday post this week, I decided to go with a tag and I’ve been wanting to do this one. This is a tag created by Jenn from the Book Refuge who is a recent Booktuber I’ve come to really enjoy. She made this tag based off the Spotify Wrapped playlist that you get at the end of the year and I thought it would be fun to do this.

Before getting started, I wanted to give you a link to my 2020 Spotify Wrapped playlist. If you know what kind of music I like, then this shouldn’t come as an surprise. For me, I thought this would be a fun way to combine both my love for music and my love for books so let’s get into it. 🙂

Song #1: “Don’t Throw It Away” by Jonas Brothers

The first book I chose to pair with this song is Scary, Lovesick, Foolish by G.G. Andrew. If you haven’t read book 1, then this might be considered a spoiler but it follows the couple from book 1 and it’s basically them dealing with not communicating in a relationship. I feel like there were a few moments where I didn’t think these two were going to make it so this is the perfect song to pair up with them.

The second book I paired up with this song was Love In the Time of Corona by Rilzy Adams. This is about a couple who is about to divorce right when the pandemic hits so they’re forced to quarantine together. It’s such a unique take on the “corona” romance and I think this book really illustrated the lyrics of this song so it was an easy pick.

Song #2: “What A Man Gotta Do” by Jonas Brothers

No surprise this was my second most listened to song in 2020 and the first book I chose for it was Blind Date with a Book Boyfriend by Lucy Eden. I feel like this song basically personifies everything Mike feels about Jordyn. He’s immediately drawn to her and wants to get to know her plus he’s pretty much willing to do whatever she wants which is adorable. While the conflict for these two was unexpected, this was such a fun and sweet read that pairs perfectly with this song.

The next book I’m pairing with this song is Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert. This book is another one where Luke will do anything for Charity. If she said jump, he’d say how high and do whatever else she asked. Once this story unfolds, you realize why and it’s such a fun paranormal romance. I couldn’t get enough of these two and I can’t wait to revisit this one.

Song #3: “Hard to Forget” by Sam Hunt

The first book I’m pairing up with this song is Your Dad Will Do by Katee Robert. This book is about a girl who hooks up with her cheating fiancé’s dad and it’s just an absolute delight. These two have a super hot sexual relationship but then decide to take a break from each other. Obviously, this one has an HEA but this song really reminds me of how attracted these two are each other and how they couldn’t ever forget about each other.

The second book I paired up with this song is I Think I Might Love You by Christina C Jones and this book really reminded me of how Jaclyn and Kadan couldn’t ever get away from each other. No matter what happened, they really couldn’t forget about each other and it was SO much fun. While this one was a super short read, it was incredible.

Song #4: “The 1” by Taylor Swift

This one was a little tough as this book doesn’t really focus on a romance but rather looking back on a romance and feeling like you’re in a better place. For me, the book I chose to pair with this song is Bear With Me by Lucy Eden. I feel like Chelle is so much better off being with Tanner than her ex which is why I decided to go with this one and it’s also set during NYE so it’s the start of new everything for her.

The second book I chose to pair up with this one was A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon. This is a second-chance romance between two childhood sweethearts as the MC gets amnesia and only really remembers her relationship with him and his family so they end up staying together. Personally, I feel like this song connects really well with Zach’s feelings for Evie and how he handles them “being together” to try and help her. While I didn’t love this book, it fits well with the song.

Song #5: “Best Years” by Five Seconds of Summer

The first book that comes to mind with this song is The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan as it follows their relationship for years. In particular, the lyric: “I wasted so much time on people that reminded me of you,” really resonated with this book for me. I feel like Maxim really abided by that and he really loved Lennix which was incredible. I really need to read the rest of this series but I feel like that song goes well with this one.

For the final book, I decided to go with a Talia Hibbert book which shouldn’t surprise anyone. For me, it had to be Damaged Goods which is about Laura who is a side character in book 1 and it’s basically her second-chance romance with her childhood sweetheart. When they reconnect, it’s obvious they’re trying to make up for lost time and give each other the best of themselves. It’s such a sweet yet emotional story that I couldn’t get enough of and it perfectly aligns with this song.

Anyways, those are my top 5 songs from my Spotify Wrapped 2020. I feel like these songs will come as no surprise to anyone lmao. However, it was a lot of fun to look back at my Goodreads and try to find books that match with each song. It was a little difficult but was still fun.  Before you finish reading my post, please take the time to look over these attached links to help with Black Lives Matter.
