Hello friends and fellow book lovers! With 2020 almost over, I figured I’d write a recommendations post about books released in 2020. I’m going to try to shy away from books I’ve talked about a lot and feature ones I don’t talk about much. With that being said, let’s get into the books as I have a lot to say 😛
1. Love In the Time of Corona
When everyone talks about Rilzy Adams, they always talk about Go Deep which is an amazing book. However, she does have a significant backlist and one of her more underrated reads is Love in the Time of Corona. This is a romance between a couple who is about to get divorced and then they get forced to quarantine together. It’s a short read but it really packs a punch. I don’t want to give too many details since it’s only 60 pages but it’s a great read as most of the US is supposed to be quarantining.
2. Bottle Rocket (So Over the Holidays #3)
The next read I have to recommend is Bottle Rocket from the So Over the Holidays series which follows the Holiday siblings and their romances. This is a romance set during the 4th of July and it features Rosie’s second-chance romance with her high school sweetheart and it’s SO good. Not only does it feature an adorable romance, but it’s incredibly steamy and really allows the heroine to explore her sexuality. Easily one of my new favorite holiday series.
3. I’ll Be the One
The next book I have to recommend is I’ll Be The One which is the only YA book on my list and the one with the least amount of romance. This book follows Skye who is a bisexual plus-sized singer and dancer that enters a competition to be a K-Pop star and it’s her journey along with a romance she has with a fellow contestant. This one was a pretty short read and I personally thought it was a perfect summer read. It’s so cute and fun if you want a light read.
4. Guarding Temptation
The next book I have to recommend is a novella by Talia Hibbert. I know that everyone knows how much I love Talia Hibbert. This is a romance between a girl and her brother’s best friend who hook up one night and then he acts as though it’s a mistake until she needs his help after being doxing online. This book has the perfect amount of pining, angst, steam and adorable moments. While it lacked the substances of her longer books, I enjoyed my time, reading it. If you’re new to Talia Hibbert and don’t want to commit to a longer book yet, I’d recommend this one.
5. Me + Somebody’s Son: A Heights Story
The next romance I have to recommend is by Christina C. Jones and it’s Me + Somebody’s Son: A Heights Story. This is a Black love novella and I thought it was such a delight. It’s a romance between two people who went to college and reconnect years later. I don’t want to say much about it but it’s a lot of fun and another short one. It was sexy, funny and sweet so if you want something to help you hit your goal, this is a good one.
6. Oops! (Oops! #1)
The first TBR book I have to talk about is Oops! by Alexandra Warren. I recently discovered her Tale of Two Cities holiday series and can’t get enough. Since then, I’ve been moving this one up on my TBR even though it’s an accidental pregnancy novella which is a trope I usually don’t like. However, I have faith that Alexandra Warren won’t steer me wrong and I’ll hopefully end up enjoying this one.
7. Queen Move
The next book I have on my TBR is Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan. For this one, I actually have a valid reason for not reading it. I haven’t read the second book in the Kingmaker series and this one follows a character from that series. With that being said, I didn’t want to read this one until I finish that series. However, I do know it’s a friends-to-lovers romance so I’m ready!!!!!!!
8. Hairpin Curves
The next book on my TBR is one I recently purchased on my Kindle and that’s Hairpin Curves by Elia Winters. I’m pretty sure this is an f/f romance between two women who were friends but have a falling out. It sounds like it’s going to be super sweet and steamy plus I’ve heard it features sex toys which I haven’t read in a lot of romances. Either way, it seems like a solid f/f romance.
9. The Restart (New Beginnings #2)
The next book on my TBR is actually a sequel and that’s The Restart which is the second book in Nicole Falls’ sports romance series. I’m pretty sure this is a sports romance and I’m super excited to read it as I loved the first book. I honestly don’t know much about this one, but I loved the first book so I think I’ll love this one. Plus I know the third book was published recently so that’s something to look forward to.
10. Thickerella (Faded Fairytales #1)
The last book on my TBR is Thickerella which is the first book in the Faded Fairytales and it’s a Cinderella retelling. I honestly don’t know much about this book but I adore the cover and it’s been on my wishlist ever. It seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun and I’d rather go in not knowing much.
Those are some of the 2020 releases I recommend and ones I have on my TBR. I feel like my TBR grew a ton during this year and those five books are just a small glimpse.
