The Kindle Unlimited Book Tag + A Birthday Post

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! If you didn’t know, tomorrow is my birthday and I’m super excited. Even though I’m turning 27, I still get excited for my birthday. I just wanted to talk about how much this blog has helped me this year. I dealt with my breakup a lot last year and the blogging community really helped me. I’ve also really enjoyed discovering new blogs, making new friends and tailoring my blog more to myself.

The only thing I really want for my birthday is one of those Kindle Unlimited gift cards and a shopping spree at Barnes & Noble. It’s doubtful I’ll get the second one, but I do plan on buying a KU gift card for myself. In connection with that, I decided to do the Kindle Unlimited Tag as I absolutely love KU. Before I get into that, it’s also my Gram’s birthday today and I love her. She won’t see this but happy birthday Gram! ❤

Before I get started, I wanted to say I found this tag on Melissa’s channel, She Is An Open Book. With that being said, let’s get into my answers for this tag and hopefully, I end up convincing someone out there to give Kindle Unlimited a try. 😛

1. Why do you love Kindle Unlimited?

For me, this question is easy to answer. I like Kindle Unlimited because I get my money’s worth. I end up reading a handful of books on there a month so the cost is very low considering how much I use it. It’s also a great way to read from new authors without much of commitment. I’ve discovered a lot of favorite authors on there and I’m really happy I gave it a chance.

2. What author(s) have you discovered because of KU?

The list is truly endless for this one. I’ve discovered a lot of authors in the time I’ve been subscribed to KU. However, I’m going to pick out three authors I absolutely love and wouldn’t have known about without having Kindle Unlimited. Well, it would’ve been very slim if I wouldn’t have had KU.

The first author I have to shout out is Lara Kinsey. I discovered her while I was looking for some f/f romances during Pride month. In addition to having two f/f romances, she also writes general queer romances. While her books are really short, I really enjoy them and I think she’s such a wonderful author. I’m also super excited to get caught up on her backlist.

Another author I discovered was Ava Freeman. She also writes f/f romances but her romances are exclusively between Black women. Even though I’ve only read two of her books, I want to read more of her backlist. These two are both so underrated and both write f/f romances so I’d highly recommend. I’m just happy I stumbled upon both of them when I was looking for pride reads.

3. What’s your favorite KU series?

I haven’t read many series on KU but one I’ve really been enjoying is the Texting series by Teagan Hunter. I’ve only read the first two books but I really want to continue the series and finish it. I think it’s a lot of fun and is modern without trying too hard. The books are also relatively short as well so they make great summer reads.

4. What author have you binged because they were in KU?

One author I love who is on KU is Christina C. Jones. She has a massive backlist so when I’m at a loss for what to read, I return to her. I’ve binged both her Wright Brothers series and her Love Sisters series. I also read her Strictly Professional series and enjoyed it so honestly, I could spend months binging all of her series. If you want more Black romance in your life, you need to pick up Christina C. Jones as she’s the queen of it.

5. What’s the last KU book you read?

When I’m writing up this post, this is the last book I’ve read via KU. I do have a huge list of them I want to get to, though so I’m sure it’ll be different when this is posted.

6. What’s the most romantic book you’ve read in KU?

Let’s be real, I can’t pick just one for this so I’m going with three lmao.

The last book in the Love Sisters series was pretty romantic to me. I really enjoyed the relationship and how the two came together. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read before and I especially loved what Levi did for Jemma.

The second book is Dirty Letters by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. This book follows two childhood friends who were pen pals and it’s basically them reconnecting through their letters as adults. I thought this was romantic since I think love letters are incredibly romantic and I especially loved how they were so accepting of each other. It made me so happy.

The last book is one I read in July and that’s Bottle Rocket by Erin McLellan. This book is a second-chance romance between two high school sweethearts. These two are so in tune with each other and truly in love from the moment they reconnect. They have such a connection and it’s so romantic to me. I especially love how open and honest they were with each other.

I’m not sure who is subscribed to KU in the blogging world. However if you are, then feel free to do this tag! I had a lot of fun with it and I plan on doing it in the future again as I read more on KU. 1. I think I’d love KU, but it’s not available in the Netherlands (or at least wasn’t the last time I checked). Here, Kobo Plus is relatively popular, but it isn’t nearly as extensive as KU.
