Hello friends and fellow book lovers! This week, we’re talking about our favorite black creators. For this one, I left it purposely open-ended as there’s a lot of different types of creators you can shout out. With that being said, I wanted to talk about a few creators so let’s get into them and also into the prompts I have picked out for August. 🙂
BookishlyRebecca is now the host of the “My Favorite” meme, a weekly meme posted on Wednesday. Originally started by Maureen’s Books, she agreed to let me take over.
As Maureen described it, “In this meme, we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it. The world can be a dark place and it’s to share something positive. Each week I will post a new My Favorite.. post about one subject and I’ll tell you all about it. And the best part? Everyone is welcome to join. The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post, and visit others.”
For this month, I’m going to go with some prompts Maureen did. I’m getting a little burnt out and don’t want to run out of ideas so I’m recycling some of hers. 🙂
- August 5th: My Favorite…Music
- August 12th: My Favorite…Non-Fiction Book
- August 19th: My Favorite…Book Cover
- August 26th: My Favorite…Summer Read of 2020
Going into this week, I knew I had a few people I wanted to talk about. With the recent book blogger/booktuber drama, I was a bit hesitant. However, I knew I wanted to make sure I included a booktuber as I have lot of Black booktubers I love. I’m just settling on one for now, though.
My favorite Black booktuber has to be Mina from Mina Reads. She always has the best book recommendations especially when it comes to romance. Personally, I really enjoy her content and she’s one of those booktubers who I always watch. If you’re looking for quality book recommendations and funny content, then Mina’s it.
The other Black creators I have to shout out are both bloggers. The first is Rebekah Weatherspoon who complies lists of romances by women of color. She has an entire website dedicated to all those books and even posts them on Twitter. If you haven’t checked out WOCinRomance, you are seriously missing out.
The second blogger I have to mention is Girl, Have You Read. This is a blog dedicated to amplifying Black romance books. I’m not actually sure how runs this blog as I haven’t been able to find anyone on their “about” page. However, I go to them when I’m looking for Black romance books. Beware as you’ll end up adding tons of books to your TBR after checking them out!
Anyways, those are all of the creators I wanted to mention. Hopefully you were able to find someone new to check out and hopefully, you decide to join me in August. I hope you’re all having a great day ❤
