Hello friends and fellow book lovers! For this week’s Friday post, I decided to do a remix on the post I did last month. Last month, I talked about romance books by Black authors I want to read plus six on my TBR. This month, I’m shifting the focus to just indie romance books I recommend along with six on my TBR. I’ve been focusing more on reading indie romances this year and I’ve found a lot of hidden gems I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
I don’t want to talk too much as that’s a lot of books. Either way, I’m excited to get back to this series and hopefully, you guys like it, too. Anyways, let’s get into the books. 😀
1. Not Another Family Wedding
I read a Jackie Lau book back in May and was excited to read more of her backlist. The book I read in July was Not Another Family Wedding and I absolutely loved it. This book is a romance between Natalie who brings Connor as a date to her sister’s wedding. It’s pretty adorable and focuses on older characters as Natalie is 36. She also doesn’t want kids and makes it very apparent throughout the story. Overall, I thought this book was refreshing and is easily my favorite Jackie Lau book yet.
2. Puneet’s Getting Mail
I’m sorry but why aren’t more people reading this book? I stumbled upon this book while on Amazon and absolutely loved it. It’s about Puneet and the romance she has with her former billionaire boss. While it’s incredibly short, it was a great intro to their relationship and they were just so dang cute. Plus it’s kind of got a “You’ve Got Mail” vibe to it and I just want more people to be reading it already. It’s only 99 cents on Kindle and the next book in the series is coming out soon. Just do yourself a favor and read it.
3. The Roommate
Have I talked about this book too much? Do I care? Uh no because The Roommate is easily the sexiest/smuttiest book I’ve ever read. I don’t remember the MC’s name but it’s basically her having sex with her roommate’s parents. It’s just so HOT and all of the characters in the books are Black to boot. If you like erotica and haven’t read anything by Brandy Bush, then you need to change that. I LOVE this book and it only has 87 ratings on Goodreads. It deserves so much more love and it’s just a delight.
4. Let’s Get Textual
I’m pretty sure this book is indie published but I could be wrong. Either way, I knew I had to feature the Texting series on here. I’ve read the first two books and both books were so much fun. Let’s Get Textual focus on Zach and Delilah who meet because Delilah thinks she’s texting her brother but is actually texting Zach. It’s incredibly cute while still being a little steamy and keeping things modern. This is a relatively popular book but I know that I wouldn’t have heard of it if it weren’t for Ellyn. That’s why it made the cut so here we are.
5. Hammer & Tongs
The last book I’m recommending is a historical novella by Lara Kinsey. I’m just going to copy what I wrote for my wrap-up as this is hard to explain. This is a historical romance between Isaiah and Arthur/Brigid and the challenges they face with Isaiah’s business and their relationship. It was short, sweet and sexy which is a theme for this list. Either way, this is another super underrated one and I wish more people knew about Lara Kinsey. Hopefully someone decides to give her a chance as her books are wonderful.
6. Being Hospitable
This one is actually on my Kindle TBR as I bought the first two books in this series but haven’t read them yet. I’ve heard good things about Meka James so I’m excited. This book is an f/f romance between roommates and I think the love interest is the MC’s best friend’s sister. Either way, it sounds like it’s going to be a good time and I really want to read this one before the year ends.
7. Blind Date With A Book Boyfriend
The next book is another one I’m super excited about. This would be my first Lucy Eden read, too. It’s also another one I have on my Kindle and have yet to read. I’m pretty sure this book features a guy and a girl who meet at a bookstore and the romance they have which sounds amazing. I’m just really excited to see if it’s as cute a the cover makes it out to be.
I’m not sure if you’re sensing a theme here but this is another book I bought on Kindle but haven’t read yet. This book is the finale to the Beards and Bondage series. I really enjoyed the first two books in the series so I’m excited to see how it ends. I know this book features a poly relationship too so that sounds like it’s going to be full of sexy times. Then there’s the cover which is just everything. Basically, I’m excited to read this and finally see how this trilogy ends.
9. Yearning For Your Love
The next book is one I have saved on my KU TBR. This book is a second-chance romance between high school sweethearts and it sounds like it’s going to be great. It’s just under 100 pages too so it’s going to be a quick read. The cover is really what drew me in and then I saw the words football players and I was hooked.
10. Swing Batter Swing
The next book is one I heard about a while ago. Since then, I’ve been wanting to read this book as the premise sounds amazing. It’s basically about a guy who is a sports agent and he only hires males assistants but then “accidentally” hires a woman. The premise definitely sounds a little bit sexist but it seems like it’s going to be a good romance story so we’ll see what happens. I just love the premise of this so much and the cover is gorgeous so obviously I need it.
11. Capturing Her Heart
The last book is an incredibly new release as it just hit Amazon on the 18th. I originally saw this on the B. Love Twitter and immediately wanted to read it. I actually don’t have any idea what this book is about or if it’s even a romance. Nevertheless, the cover just drew me in and it looked great so I added it to my TBR. Either way, this book sounds like it’s going to be great by the reviews on Goodreads. 🙂
Hopefully you were able to find some new books/authors to check out. I’m personally hoping to get a good chunk of these off my TBR soon. I have so many books saved for KU and I’d like to make at least a small dent in that list. No matter, I’m just excited to be mentioning all of these books on my blog!
