Hello friends and fellow book lovers! It’s another Top 5 Tuesday on my blog and this time, we’re talking about popular books we haven’t read yet. Usually, I stay away from incredibly hyped book so I feel like this list is going to be easy to do. I guess we’ll see so let’s get into my picks. 😀
If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list.
5. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
The first book I chose is unsurprisingly a romance and more of an author rather than a book. I still have yet to read anything by Mariana Zapata and this one sounds like it’s going to be great. On Goodreads, this book has the most ratings and I know it’s an NFL romance. The main reason I haven’t read this one is that I’m intimidated as it’s almost 700 pages and super slow-burn. I’m sure I’ll probably like it but the idea of reading it just scares it lol.
4. A Curse So Dark and Lonely
The second popular book I haven’t read is unsurprisingly a fantasy. I don’t read much fantasy and this is one I’ve heard a lot about. From what I’ve heard, A Curse So Dark and Lonely is a Beauty and the Beast retelling which I’m down for. I remember reading Beastly when I was younger and loving it. I’m sure they aren’t similar but I really do enjoy BATB retellings so this sounds like it could be right up my alley. Also, Jess from PeaceLoveBooks read it and said she loved it. She’s a huge romance reader so I knew it had to be bumped up my TBR.
3. Renegades
Last year, Ellyn and I buddy-read The Lunar Chronicles together and I really enjoyed them so I’m excited to read more from Marissa Meyer. Since then though, I haven’t picked up anything else by her. I’ve heard really awesome things about her Renegades series and it’s incredibly popular. I know it focuses on superheroes so that would be something different for me. Maybe I can get Ellyn to buddy-read this with me too 😉
2. Speak
This book is the one I’m most ashamed of not reading as it’s incredibly popular and one a lot of people have read. Tbh I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by Laurie Halse Anderson which is tragic. I’m pretty sure this book was one of the earliest YA books to tackle sexual assault and rape culture so it’s iconic in that respect. Either way, this book is one a lot of fellow bloggers and readers have picked up already. Nevertheless, this is a book I definitely plan on reading as soon as possible.
1. Wilder Girls
The last book is one I’m sure most people would be surprised to see as far as books I’d like to read. At first, I thought this book was just overhyped but the more I hear about it, the more I want to read it. This book features girls who are quarantined on an island and they have to deal with this mysterious illness and try to save themselves. As someone who can’t quarantine because of my job, I don’t think it would affect me as much. Either way, I think this book sounds like it could be something I’d enjoy.

Renegades and A Curse so Dark and Lonely are already on my ereader. I just have to finish another 23835 books first before I can get to them.

Speak is on my TBR. I don’t think I’ve even ever heard of the other ones. Can you tell I’m not a book nerd?

I loved Renegades and liked A Curse So Dark and Lonely – I actually liked the sequel better! I had to read Speak during my freshmen year of high school, and I want to go back and reread it and see what I think now. Fun post!

Wilder Girls was so weird and interesting! I think I want to read Renegades as well – I loved the Lunar Chronicles books, so I really should try more of her books. Enjoy!
