Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 books I’d rewrite

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Once again, Shanah does it again with these prompts and this one has me so hyped up. I think it’s such a unique idea and one that I don’t think about much. However, there are a handful of books that I’d absolutely love to rewrite and change certain aspects of.

If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list.

5. New Moon (Twilight #2)

I feel like this one is kind of a given because of my reread with Ellyn. With that being said, there is a lot I’d like to change about this book. For me, I’d like to not feature Edward at all in the latter half and instead, have Bella end up with Jacob. I’ve always preferred Bella and Jacob together so I’d happily reread the entire almost 25% of it to make that happen.

4. P.S. I Still Love You (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before #2)

The second book on my list is another one that I’d rewrite to change the pairings. I’m sure that most of us have read this series by now. If not, there will be spoilers for this book and the first book. For me, I vastly preferred the pairing of Lara Jean and John Ambrose than her and Peter. I’m sorry but these two were a much better fit and he actually treated her well. Peter K was a terrible boyfriend and she deserved SO MUCH better. I’d basically just rewrite this so Lara Jean and John Ambrose would end up together lmao.

3. The Friend Zone

These next two books are also connected because I’d rewrite the endings. I went into The Friend Zone really enjoying it until about the 75% mark. After that, this book really fell apart for me and I couldn’t rate it more than 2 stars. If I were rewriting this, I wouldn’t give Kristen the ending she got but rather, a more realistic one for the future. I personally don’t deal with what she deals with within the book but I don’t think it’s entirely realistic with what women deal with. With that being said, I’d totally change the ending especially for Kristen but also for her friend, Sloan.

2. Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating

This is another book that I’d totally change the ending of. As much as I was happy for the characters, it didn’t make sense for the rest of the story. Rather than have that happen, I’d like to see Hazel and Josh’s relationship flourish a bit more. I’d also like to see them take another step before it gets to where the novel took it. This just completely changed the tone of the story and I wish Christina Lauren had taken a different route. Instead, I’d do what I mentioned above and see their relationship grow.

1. Fireworks

Ugh, I wanted to love this book so much but Fireworks was a major disappointment for me. That’s why I’d chose to rewrite the entire thing because this book had so much potential and I think it was completely wasted. Rather than having this book focus on the girl hate, I’d rewrite it to focus more on the 90’s aspect, boybands and about the girls working together. If I rewrote it, I think this book would have been much improved.

  1. I haven’t read any of the books you’re mentioned, Rebecca, although I’ve watched the first two Twilight films – too angsty for me, eye-rolling-aplenty! 😉
I wimped out of talking about specific books this week and did something different with my T5T. 😉 I hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Here’s my Top 5 Tuesday Post
