Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Happy Women’s History Month 🙂 In honor of that, I decided to feature some feminist prompts. Thankfully, most of them are bookish so I was thinking of my fellow book bloggers 😉 This week’s prompt is one that’s very near and dear to heart so let’s get into it. 😛
BookishlyRebecca is now the host of the “My Favorite” meme, a weekly meme posted on Wednesday. Originally started by Maureen’s Books, she agreed to let me take over.
As Maureen described it, “In this meme, we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it. The world can be a dark place and it’s to share something positive. Each week I will post a new My Favorite.. post about one subject and I’ll tell you all about it. And the best part? Everyone is welcome to join. The only thing you’ll have to do is sign up on my weekly post, link back to this post and visit others.”
At the end of each month, I’ll post the prompts for the following month so be sure to check back then!
If you’ve been following my blog, this will come as no surprise. Easily, my favorite feminist book character is Claudia Kishi from The Baby-Sitters Club series. When I was younger, I always loved Claudia and thought she was easily the best.
I only wished I could be half as cool as her but alas I am Mary Anne. However, what I loved about Claudia was that she didn’t let anyone tell her who to be. She was her own person and she didn’t care if you liked it. Her friend group was full of supportive ladies plus she was one of the few mainstream Asian-American YA characters.
Honestly, Claudia was everything and she still is. Honestly, I’d feature all the girls from BSC but I decided to just focus on Claudia. ❤
Who is your favorite feminist book character? Any characters from your childhood that you think are feminist now? I’d love to hear!
