Read, Rewrite or Burn Book Tag

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I have a confession to make: I’m skipping out on my non-bookish favorites this month. Instead, you’re getting a tag post and I’ll get into the 2 reasons. The first reason is I have a HUGE backlog of tags I need to do and second, I couldn’t think of many non-bookish favorites for this month.

Hopefully, you guys don’t mind and you enjoy the tag. Thank you so much to Laura from @thebookcorps for tagging me! I love her blog aesthetic and how her posts look, she is aesthetic #goals.

The Rules

  • Randomly choose 3 books
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread
  • Repeat until you’ve completed six rounds (or however many rounds you want to do)

Round One:

Read: The Summer of Jordi Perez (and the Best Burger in Los Angeles)

Rewrite: The Female Persuasion

Burn: Paper Girls Vol 1

Surprisingly, this one was really easy. Even though I didn’t love The Summer of Jordi Perez, I could deal with reading it again. Also, I think a rewrite of The Female Persuasion would help that book immensely and make it a lot better. As for Paper Girls, I wasn’t a fan so into the flames it goes!

Round Two:

Read: Girl Against The Universe

Rewrite: A Season of Daring Greatly

Burn: We Are Okay

This one was so hard, oh my gosh!!! I like all of these books so it made this even tougher but I knew I would reread Girl Against the Universe. It was such a great book featuring a female athlete and rewriting A Season of Daring Greatly would hopefully make it more like Girl Against the Universe. Sadly, that means We Are Okay had to go…I feel sad already 😦

Round Three:

I couldn’t have ended up with 3 more wildly different books but let’s get into it!

Read: Things That Make White People Uncomfortable

Rewrite: Pride and Prejudice

Burn: Amina’s Voice

This round was bonkers! Also at this point, all my pictures deleted from the post and I was too lazy to add them back in lol. Anyways, I had to reread Things That Make White People Uncomfortable because it’s amazing. As for Pride and Prejudice, there’s no way I could burn that and I don’t remember much from Amina’s Voice so goodbye!

Round Four:

Read: I’ll Give You The Sun

Rewrite: Royals

Burn: My Heart and Other Black Holes

I’ve been over a year since I’ve read I’ll Give You The Sun so I’d love to revisit it. As for Royals, I think it could handle being rewritten and a few edits. I read My Heart and Other Black Holes last year and enjoyed it, but I don’t think it will hold up as much so I’m burning it!

Round Five:

Read: How To Make A Wish

Rewrite: Princess Leia Vol 1

Burn: They Both Die At The End

Sigh, no one kill me just yet! I’ve been a huge fan of Ashley Herring Blake so I for sure want to read How To Make A Wish again. As for Princess Leia Vol 1, I enjoyed it but I’d like to make some changes and rewrite some scenes. They Both Die At The End was a 4-star read when I first read it but I think looking back, I got swept up in the hype. I’m sorry Adam Silveria fans, please don’t call deathcast on me!

Round 6:

Reread: Stalking Jack the Ripper

Rewrite: Juliet Takes A Breath

Burn: Bingo Love

This last round was another tough one for me! I liked all of these books and wish I could save them all. However, I should probably reread Stalking Jack the Ripper before Escaping from Houdini comes out. As for rewriting Juliet Takes A Breath, I think there’s some room for improvement. Sadly, that means I have to burn Bingo Love.

Even though this tag gave me a headache (aka losing all my pics), it was pretty fun and kind of challenging. I know this is an older tag so I’m not to tag anyone but if you want to do, you are officially tagged!!

  1. I’ve heard so many good things about Stalking Jack the Ripper but I’ve never gotten around to it.. is it really worth the hype?
