6 LGBTQIA+ books I want to read

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! Sadly, there is no Top 5 Tuesday post this week but we’ll be back next week. Instead of a Top 5 Tuesday, I thought I’d write up a post centered on Pride. If you don’t know June is Pride Month in the United States!

This month, I’ve been making my way through books written by authors who are on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or books featuring characters on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Even though I’ve been reading multiple ones, there are a ton I still want to check out.

Of course, that’s where this idea came from! Let’s get into the 6 LGBTQIA+ books I want to read!

1. The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

For some reason, I thought I mentioned this book in a post before. Either way, I’ve heard nothing but good things about This Miseducation of Cameron Post. I’m pretty sure it’s about a girl who is a lesbian and gets sent to a conversion camp. Honestly, it sounds dark and sad but an important read nonetheless.

2. Juliet Takes A Breath by Gabby Rivera

Alright so why haven’t I read this book yet?? Not only did Cece of @Problemsofabooknerd recommend it but Ellyn did too so I have no excuse. I don’t know much about this book besides its beautiful cover but I just need to read it??

3. Peter Darling by Austin Chant

Last year, I read Coffee Boy by Austin Chant and enjoyed it. I recently finished Caroline’s Heart and enjoyed that. That’s why I knew I had to feature Peter Darling on my list because I have to read his entire backlist.

There’s just something about Chant’s writing style and storytelling that keeps me coming back. In addition, his books have all featured trans MCs if that’s something you might be interested in. Not to talk him up even more, but his books are also super short so you can breeze right through them.

4. I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman

After hearing Jane of ItsJaneLindsey rave about Alice Oseman, I read Radio Silence and I really enjoyed it. It really made me want to check out her other books and her newest release I Was Born For This sounds amazing! As per usual, her book focuses on fandom but also includes diversity.

I know the boyband the MC looks features a trans member and I think it might be a romance? I’m not really sure but I’m excited to read it.

5. Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle

This is another recommendation from Cece’s channel. Not only is the cover gorgeous, but I think it features witches and I’m always down for a witchy book. In addition, the book has multiple characters on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, I think.

Honestly, she talked this book up so much and I can’t wait to read it. I might save it for fall as it seems like a perfect Halloween read.

6. What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

Alright so maybe this one is cheating. It technically doesn’t come out until October but I’m really excited about it. I’ve read all of Becky’s books and 1 of Adam’s so I’m interested to see how their style meshes together.

As for the premise, it sounds amazing as it’s about two guys who have a meet-cute and then how their relationship develops. Honestly, I don’t even care because I’m #trash for Becky Albertalli and I’ll read anything she writes!

Those are just some of the books I need to catch up on! Was I the only one who missed writing a Top 5 Tuesday post? They feel like such a huge part of my routine now.
